Everyone's 2nd Chessbook by NM Dan Heisman.
This was a great book for my game. Lately I've been working on my chess game quite hard, because, well, I'm quite bad. I had read most of Chess for Dummies, and was interested in how to go forth from just knowing about tactics and strategy and openings and end-games; I wanted to know how to learn about those things - where to go next. This book was great. It is short and sweet, and gives the leverage needed to dive into the next batch of chess theory. There were also enough pure tips to improve my game immediately.
